After having a beautiful youth on a Canary Island, I came back to Berlin in 2003. My goal was to study at the TU Berlin. I came here with my mixed-blood dog Neisha.

Some month later I met my husband-to-be and his Dobermann lady Mya. We decided very quickly to move together and then started the big challenge/adventure.

In 2004 We started looking for an apartment to rent. Both of us were living in a one-bedroom apartment and we decided to go for one room more. In Germany, a one-bedroom means only one room. Extra is the bathroom and sometimes the kitchen.

We searched a lot, we found a lot, but when the moment we mentioned our two dogs, with the side note that one of them is a Dobermann lady, the “nice and animal-loving German landlords” turned into deprecating people denying us to rent an apartment.

In Spain, the majority of the people own their apartments/houses. This made me talk my husband into buying the flat. At that time growing up in Germany he was accustomed to renting and not buying. After clearing some doubts he was fond of the idea and together we decided to go for it.

Finally, I found an apartment in the Corbusierhaus Berlin (unité d´habitation Berlin). I didn´t know Corbusier and I didn´t know what kind of jewel we bought 🙂

Markus was not amused about this maisonette apartment with low ceilings. He is 190 cm, I´m only 164 cm. From my point of view, I didn´t realize the crushing experience for him.

When I walked in I instantly fell in love with this dark, little hole. I saw so many potentials!
